Last Updated: October 23, 2026
redmon.biz (“Chasing the Globe”) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant federal and international accessibility standards across our pages and interactive applications.
1. Conformance Status & Standards
This website is designed and maintained to conform with:
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended, 29 U.S.C. § 794d), incorporating the Revised 508 Standards issued by the U.S. Access Board.
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).
Current Status: Fully Conformant for core website content and legal documentation, with keyboard and screen-reader accommodations implemented for embedded astronomical horology simulations.
2. Accessibility Features Implemented
To ensure an inclusive experience for visitors using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, screen magnifiers, or high-contrast display modes, redmon.biz incorporates the following features:
- Bypass Blocks via ARIA Landmarks (ARIA11) & Semantic Headings (H69): In accordance with W3C WCAG 2.4.1 sufficient techniques ARIA11 and H69, every page uses explicit HTML5 and WAI-ARIA landmarks (
<header role="banner">,<nav role="navigation" aria-label="Primary navigation">,<main id="main-content" role="main">,<aside role="complementary">, and<footer role="contentinfo">) paired with a logical heading hierarchy (<h1>through<h4>) at the start of each content section, enabling assistive technologies to jump directly to main content without repetitive tabbing. - Keyboard Navigation & Focus Management:
- All interactive elements—including navigation menus, profile cards, cookie consent controls, and form inputs—are operable via keyboard (
Tab,Shift+Tab,Enter,Space, andEscape). - Visible
:focus-visibleindicators highlight the currently focused control. - Modal dialogs (such as the Cookie Preferences manager) implement keyboard focus trapping,
Escape-key dismissal, and automatic focus restoration to the triggering control.
- All interactive elements—including navigation menus, profile cards, cookie consent controls, and form inputs—are operable via keyboard (
- Color Contrast & Light/Dark Theme Support: Text and interactive UI components meet or exceed the WCAG AA minimum contrast ratio of
4.5:1for normal text and3:1for large text and graphical controls across both light mode and dark mode (prefers-color-scheme: dark). - Reduced Motion Support: Animations and transitions respect your operating system’s
prefers-reduced-motion: reducesetting. - Text Resizing & Viewport Zoom: All pages and embedded frames support browser zoom and pinch-to-zoom scaling up to 200% and beyond without loss of content or functionality.
3. Interactive Astronomical Simulations (/clock/)
The Billings Time (/clock/) page features two interactive graphical simulations of the Prague Astronomical Clock (Pražský Orloj) and Josef Mánes’s reconstructed Calendar Dial. Because these simulations are highly visual, we provide the following accessible alternatives:
- Live ARIA Status Announcements: The Astronomical Calendar HUD uses
aria-live="polite"to announce the aligned calendar date, zodiac sign, Dominical letter, and Old Czech Saint / Cisiojanus inscription as the wheel is adjusted. - Keyboard & Form Controls: In addition to pointer drag gestures, the Calendar Dial can be rotated and inspected using labeled keyboard range sliders, an explicit date picker input, and a searchable text directory of all 365 saints and inscriptions.
4. Technical Specifications
Accessibility of redmon.biz relies upon the following standard web technologies to work with the particular combination of web browser and assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer:
- HTML5
